What is Reiki?
Reiki is first and foremost a SELF HEALING TOOL. Even if our goal and life’s purpose is to help others, we cannot do this effectively or to the best of our ability if we do not first take care of ourselves.
Reiki is a gentle, light-touch body therapy for your physical and emotional health. The steady stream of Reiki energy strengthens and balances your flow of life force energy, which keeps the body and all of its parts active and healthy.
Just as there are positions in yoga, and meridian points in acupuncture for specific ailments and areas of blocked energy flow, there are hand positions and special symbols for a Reiki practitioner to use on the body that address these same issues.
Some common symptoms that signal disruption with your life force energy are:
- Fatigue
- Chronic pain
- Depression Disease
What does Reiki do for the body?
The soothing energy of Reiki gives the receiver:
- Time to completely relax physically and mentally.
- space to allow the mind and body to unplug and restore itself from everyday life.
- A more poised and balanced state of mind.
- More efficient life force energy within the body, allowing for an opportunity to heal itself physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
What should I expect when I receive Reiki?
The role of the Reiki Practitioner is to provide the client with a safe and comfortable setting so the patient can relax as deeply as possible. During a Reiki session, a client can expect:
- Being on a table or chair fully clothed.
- The practitioner using gentle hand positions around the body with a light touch or hands slightly above the body.
- Practioner to give the body a chance to engage its natural intention to heal and balance itself.
- Possible sensations including tingling, heat, or cold responses.
Reiki as a tool for deepening your spiritual practice
The foundation of Reiki is self-care and the development of one’s link to his or her spirituality and intuitive guidance. Reiki is NOT a religion but simply a relationship with balance, mindfulness, and clarity. The result can be a healthier life as this healing process of releasing stagnant energy and restoring order in the body brings balance and peace to all areas of your life. When you are at peace and in balance, you are more likely to hear your inner voice and develop a relationship with your inner knowledge.

Although it is difficult to use modern science to explain or mathematically measure the benefits of Reiki, the recorded results that patients experience is quite intense. Reiki for students, adults, and children
As a stress reduction tool, Reiki is used to:
- Improve memory and study habits.
- Reduce anxiety in regards to test-taking.
Reiki for painful and sensitive areas of the body
Since Reiki is so gentle, it is an excellent modality when considering broken bones, burns, sprained and strained body parts, and surgical sites. If someone suffers from ailments that involve a sensitivity to touch, like Fibromyalgia, Reiki is a healing source that can be of great comfort.
Reiki from a distance
Reiki is effective even when sent as distance healing. Since direct contact is not necessary, even a Reiki Level 2 Practitioner can send this healing energy across the room or to another place thousands of miles away. Like prayer, Reiki is palpable and beneficial across the planet.
